How to use the AI Marketing Lab
The lab has three kinds of tools. Each works on its own, and they get stronger together. This guide takes about three minutes to read.
The three building blocks
| Type | What it is | Reach for it when |
|---|---|---|
| Playbook | A step-by-step method for one marketing job, written by a practitioner | You know the job, such as a launch plan or an email sequence, and want a proven process |
| Expert persona | A specialist's role, judgment, and standards | You want a sparring partner, a second opinion, or a tough review |
| Prompt pack | Ready-made single prompts with [brackets] to fill in | You need fast drafts: hooks, headlines, ad variations |
Industry experts: expert personas are tagged by industry, including financial services and fintech, healthcare and life sciences, IT and professional services, manufacturing and industrial B2B, e-commerce and D2C, and consumer brands and CPG. Use the Industry filter in the lab to find the specialists for your market, then pair them with any playbook.
Using one on its own
- Open a new chat in ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Keep one project per chat.
- Copy the prompt from the item page and paste it. If your app limits pasted text, download the .md file and attach it.
- Answer its questions. Every playbook and persona starts by asking about your product, audience, competitors, voice, proof, and goal.
- Ask for one deliverable at a time, for example: "Draft the launch email."
- Review and verify. Check every number and claim before you use it.
Build your context card once
The original playbooks expect a file describing your business. You can create your own in one step. At the end of your first conversation, ask:
Summarize everything you learned about my business in a short context card I can reuse.
Save the result. Paste it at the start of every new chat, or store it in your AI app's project or custom instructions settings if it has them. The questions get shorter and the output gets sharper.
Save it once, use it every day
Pasting the same playbook into every chat gets old. Most AI apps now let you save instructions and files in a dedicated workspace, so a playbook is ready whenever you open it. Download the item as a .md file, then:
- ChatGPT: create a project, add the .md file to the project's files, and add your context card to its instructions.
- Claude: create a project, add the .md file to the project knowledge, and add your context card to the project instructions.
- Gemini: create a Gem, paste the playbook into its instructions, and attach your context card as a file if you have one.
Each chat you start inside that workspace already knows the playbook and your business. Using Claude Code or a paid Claude plan? The .zip download holds the original skill files, which Claude can install as a custom skill. Menu names and plan limits vary by app and change often, so check your app's help pages if a step looks different.
Using them together
1. Expert plus method
Paste an expert persona first. Then paste a playbook and say: "Using that expertise, follow this playbook." You get a proven process run by a specialist's judgment.
2. Plan, then produce
Use a playbook to settle the strategy and the core message. Then, in the same chat, paste a prompt pack to generate variations quickly. Because the chat already knows your message, the drafts stay on point.
3. Draft, then review
Produce a draft with a playbook. Then paste an expert persona and ask it to review the draft against its standards and list what to fix. It is the fastest way to get a tough second opinion.

Tips for better results
- Be specific. Real numbers, real customer words, and real constraints produce work you can use.
- Keep sensitive data out. Share only information you are allowed to share with an AI service.
- Check the facts. AI tools can be confidently wrong. Verify before you publish.
- Favorite what works. Tap Favorite on the items you find most useful. Favorites help everyone find the best tools, and you can sort the lab by most popular.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a playbook and an expert persona?
A playbook is a step-by-step method for completing one marketing job, such as a launch plan or an email sequence. An expert persona gives the AI a specialist's role, judgment, and standards, which makes it better at reviewing work and making decisions.
Can I use a playbook and an expert persona together?
Yes. Paste the persona first so the AI adopts the expert's point of view, then paste the playbook and ask it to follow the method with that expertise. You can also use a playbook to produce a draft and a persona to review it.
Which AI tools work with the lab?
Any chat-based AI assistant that accepts long text, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Every playbook and persona is written to work on its own without extra files or tools.
What if a prompt is too long to paste?
Download the item as a .md file and attach it to your chat. Expert personas also have a quick-start version that is much shorter, for phones and free AI plans.
How do I avoid pasting the same playbook every time?
Save it once in a ChatGPT project, a Claude project, or a Gemini Gem, along with a short context card about your business. Every chat you start there is ready to go.
Do I need the original files or a coding tool?
No. The copied prompt tells the AI to ask you for the context that the original setup files would have provided. The original files are available as a .zip for people who use Claude Code or other agent tools.
